The Role
I have really enjoyed my internship at Disney. It's a really fun place to work, I've worked on some really cool projects and I've developed a lot in myself and my skills. Every day has a different set of challenges, which is refreshing and exciting. I've had a lot of responsibility too; a lot more than I had expected to get from my internship.
My colleagues have been really great. I don't feel like an intern at all. I can have my say in meetings and in business decisions, so I feel extremely valued. As a result, I've developed some really strong networks and friendships with the people I work with. I'd like to keep in touch with the people I work with.
My manager has been really supportive. She's always pushing me to be better and get involved in new and exciting projects. I also have a mentor in my department, who I meet with to discuss new opportunities I can get involved in, within my own and in other departments.
My workload isn't consistent. Sometimes, I have lots to do and feel overstretched and a little stressed. Sometimes, I have nothing to do and almost feel like I'm twiddling my thumbs. As the internship has progressed, I have gained more responsibility and my workload has grown alongside this.
I have been given a lot of responsibility. I have been in charge of many projects, working with many large franchises and characters, which is really exciting and cool. I didn't expect to have as much responsibility as I do. I feel very lucky!
The skills I have learned and developed in my internship have been useful, but aren't very helpful in assisting my degree studies. I study Computer Science and did this internship thinking that I would be coding and using my technical experience, but I haven't done any coding all year. I wish there were opportunities for me to use my technical skills. That said, I have enjoyed my job and have explored and developed new skills that I had not considered before, and I am now considering a career in fields that use these skills.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office is great. Everyone gets on really well and there's always a high level of morale in my team. There's always events and things going on, whether they're departmental activities or office-wide activities. All of these things make you feel proud to work for this company, as you enjoy your job.
The internship was very well organised from interview to the first day. Having a Facebook group for all the interns has stood out to me and was really useful in sorting out things like accommodation. It is really useful as well for networking and meeting other interns.
I believe the company has invested a lot of time in me. I have learned a lot from my colleagues and the company through training sessions, training videos and workshops.

I would consider a future career within Disney in the future because I have felt well looked after, have enjoyed my job and the perks of the job. However, I would like to experience some other organisations because I've noticed that career progression isn't very easy at Disney and because I've had a lot of responsibility as an intern, I see career progression as an important factor in choosing my future career.
The Culture
The social scene is very good. You're mixed with colleagues and other fellow students, so you can develop your friendships with both full-time staff and students. I go to lunch with the interns on my floor and we meet up outside of work to go to the pub and for day trips.
Living in London is very expensive, especially rent. It seems unfair that things must cost that much, but they do. However, with the salary from Disney, I am able to live comfortably with enough money to buy food and do fun things.
I've had some good night outs in London.
I was able to continue two of my hobbies while working at Disney. I found a local trampolining club and I joined a university of london society.
