About You
The black heritage talent insight programme was extremely enjoyable. I met so many lovely people and contacts for when I start at KPMG. It’s a great starting point to begin your journey with the firm and provides a great experience into what life at KPMG in your chosen sector will be like.
As the programme was only 3 days we only spent 1 day shadowing our chosen department so the extent to which we felt valued is probably minimal in terms of actual work we did because it was more of a backseat experience. But this was still extremely valuable nonetheless. But the staff were extremely welcoming in making you feel like a part of the company.
The support received throughout the whole programme was fantastic, from application right through to the end. It was really emblematic of the support and guidance system within KPMG.
The skills I developed during the programme were mainly networking skills during the work shadowing day and at the networking drinks. Not only did I meet contacts with senior managers, directors and partners at KPMG, but I also made friends with the other students on the programme.
The Company
Considering this was the first time the programme was run and everything was structure into 3 days it was largely faultless. I definitely preferred the splitting up of the typical launch pad, making the assessment centre seem that bit more bearable after having experienced life at KPMG first hand.
The welcoming and fast paced atmosphere of KPMG was clear for the start and made me more excited to want to be involved. It is clear the company’s culture is one that involves everyone and strives for their improvement.
The experience at the programme was first class, not only that but the firm paid for our time as well as our travel. The investment in our employment within their firm is clear.
Despite only being 3 days the insight programme provided a well rounded overview of what a full time role would be like. However if it the programme was longer it would have given more time to actually experience what work would be like at kpmg over a range of days and projects potentially.
The black heritage talent insight programme itself is evident of the company’s inclusive and diverse culture. Actually being on the programme expanded this even more and seeing first hand the types of networks and events they have once you’re an employee also to support their diversity.
It was extremely valuable in providing an overview of every potential sector of the business and thus narrowing down my choices.
Everything Else
More than adequate.
At every opportunity we were encouraged to network with senior members of the firm which we were able to consolidate at the networking drinks on the final day.
They were brilliant. I managed to connect with so many new people who have provided me with great advice with my up and coming career.
There was such a wide range of activities outside of work to be involved it but what particularly stood out for me were the social responsibility opportunities as well as the different heritage networks.
Definitely, it is a great opportunity for third years of mixed heritage to get a graduate job.
