Women in Fund Management Insight Day Review

I thoroughly enjoyed the insight as I was able to meet and speak to various employees at the firm, in a range of departments and all with different levels of experience and time spent at the firm. The most enjoyable part of the day was the trading game as it gave us a real feel for what it is like to create an asset portfolio.

I felt extremely valued at the firm because so many employees gave up their lunch hour to come and speak to us over a networking lunch and provide us with great knowledge and insight into their role. Furthermore, I felt that a lot of planning and organisation was put into the event to ensure it to be the success that it was.

During the trading game, we were given a lot of support and insight on how we should structure are asset portfolio and what factors we should take into consideration. Furthermore, at the end of each round, we were given very thorough feedback to help us with our decision-making going forward.

I feel that the insight provided me with a much greater understanding into a career in asset management, which I did not know a lot about before the event. Although it is unlikely to assist me in my degree studies, it will definitely help me when making my future career decision.

The insight was extremely well structured, with a jam-packed schedule planned for the day. The insight not only included talks and presentations from industry professionals, but also the fun and interactive trading game. Furthermore, there was a great networking opportunity over lunch with employees from various levels and departments of the firm.

The atmosphere was great and I enjoyed meeting people with similar interests and experiences to me. I felt everyone was eager to learn and take part in the group trading game, which made the atmosphere even better. I felt welcomed and appreciated by all members of staff at the firm, with everyone willing to offer their advise and help.

The networking lunch really helped me to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with a firm. This is because I was able to speak to employees on a more personal level and find out what their day to day tasks consist of and how their role has changed over time.

The whole day was centred around giving us a real feel for a career in asset management, and it is something I will take into considerable account when thinking about my future career path. The trading game provided a practical and more realistic insight into working in asset management than talks and presentations alone would have.

I felt that this was an amazing opportunity to speak to employees about their career paths and what their current role involves. As well as this, I was able to get some great career advice, which will help me when making future decisions.

Yes, I would thoroughly recommend this insight day to a friend, particularly one who feels they want to explore alternative careers in the finance sector to investment banking. I really enjoyed the day and I learnt a lot more about a career in asset management, which is something I didn't know a lot about before.
