The Role
Love this Job, made me realise what I could do with my degree and pushed me out of my comfort zone in social and work related situations.
This Placement isn't easy. You get given a lot of responsibility not only in your role but also in social aspects too.
I have had the best team this year and couldn't have asked for a stronger support system to have be put into.
Obviously the days vary a lot depending on seasonal demands, however this placement allows you to do your work load with deadlines but at your leisure. Each day you will always have something to do.
This placement comes with very high responsibility as you will have accounts to look after yourself. If you fall behind it could effect other companies process.
I have learnt a lot more this placement year about graphic design (Not even being in a GD position) than I ever have at university... university does not show you what it like to work in industry and this is why I highly recommend doing a placement year.
The Company
Friendly, Chatty and you have your own desk to make your own.
A lot of paperwork included and interviews may be costly as they are far away. However overall the process of setting up the placement year is outweighed by the placement year itself.
I was able to get stuck in with the designers tutorial sessions which meant learning how to use the adobe suit was much easier than sitting through a lecture on colour..

Very however I would like to go into a new area rather than this one as it doesn't suit my skill set fully. However I have enjoyed this position immensely.
The Culture
Very good social events. There are around 200 interns in the Disney building and 12 on our floor which means there is a large group of people your age and older to socialise with. I personally got involved in the social committee and this was a great way of making connections within the business.
Living in London is super hard unless you have some form on financial support. It may not be luxury living but I wouldn't change living in London for anything as this has been on of the best years Ive ever had. Going may be hard but a little research on student places in London helps!
Hammersmith is a buzzing area with many outs you can go to after work. London in general has a large variety of things to do and hammersmith is in Zone 2 making it easy to get anywhere in London!
Yes, the Volun'tears' scheme allows you to do volunteering with other employees around the local area. This also boosts the year in industry recommendations as not only are you getting involved in the work place but also the community.
