About You
I thoroughly enjoyed the insight day. Unlike most insight days, the Spring Week at J.P. Morgan was an overview of all the different types of divisions, giving us a more broad view of the bank, allowing us to be more open minded. There was plenty of networking opportunities, games and case studies, and informative talks too.
I felt incrdibly valued. HR were very kind and approachable, so even when personal issues arose, they would deal with it promptly and kindly. As someone of ethnic minority, there was also a diversity event during the course of the spring week, which made me feel valued as someone of a minority too.
We received a fair amount of guidance and support. Before the spring week, we were given a lot of information, so that the spring week could run smoothly and we would understand the various talks. There was also program outlining what would happen during the week, and the HR team were always available and incredibly approachable.
Not so much for my degree but most certainly for life and for internships, graduate roles and future jobs. there were several skills sessions, such as creating a good brand, public speaking and how to excel at interviews which was very useful and practical.
The Company
Well structured. A clear itinerary of what would happen throughout the course of the week, which was stuck to.
There was a great atmosphere. J.P. Morgan have a great culture which was certainly translated during the spring week. Even the small things such as regular toilet breaks, a lot of refreshments, and kind and down to earth speakers, made the atmosphere great.
One thing that was a bit disappointing about the J.P. Morgan Spring week is that they don't do conversions, and as a result, this did feel like they didn't invest in us as the other banks do. Nevertheless, the various skill talks and the insight about the application process was still plausible, and the several networking opportunities were great too.
As there wasn't much shadowing opportunities, we could only take what the speakers said at face value. However, the speakers were incredibly honest, and so were the people we networked with too at the bank.
The spring week was very helpful in understanding J.P. Morgan's culture. From the talks, to the way the speakers addressed us, and the networking opportunities, the culture was clear.
The content was very valuable at the JP Morgan Spring Week because it took a holistic approach in the sense that all divisions were talked about throughout the week, For instance, I went in thinking that I definitely wanted a career in M&A, but now I am learning towards Wealth management as a result of the Spring Week.
Everything Else
We were given free accommodation and a London travel card for the week. International students had their flights paid for too.
Lots and lots of networking opportunities were provided! Almost every day there was at least one opportunity to network every day, and even after the networking sessions, several of the employees were open to coffee/dinner to talk further.
Good. Some weren't long enough, or had too much of a particular division, but there were plenty of opportunities to network which made up for this. There were lots of social events too, which allowed us interns to get to know each other well too which was fun.
Yes!
I would definitely recommend the J.P. Morgan Spring Week. I would particularly recommend it to people who do not know exactly what division they would like to go into, as the JP Morgan Spring Week allows you to be open minded by introducing you to all divisions. The networking opportunities are endless and the culture and atmosphere at J.P. Morgan will definitely put you at ease too!
