About You
Participating in the Spring Week at J.P. Morgan: Finance for Non-Finance was an amazing experience and a unique occasion to discover what working in the CIB division of a bank really is like. There was a lot to learn in a week but it was all made very pleasant by the people giving the presentations/courses and the organisers.
You could tell from the very start that each and every participant was valued and their voice heard. A lot of effort was put into making sure everyone felt comfortable and at ease during the course of the Spring Week. I certainly did feel this way.
Asking questions related to any topic was greatly encouraged even though independent thought was also important. All the people I had the opportunity to talk with, were extremely helpful and answered all my queries the best they could.
The skills/information I learned go well beyond my degree studies. Not only did I learn a lot about how the CIB division of a bank functions, but also many other valuable transferable skills through engaging presentations. Even if you don't start your career in finance, all the skills you would learn would be essential to your overall success, regardless of the field.
The Company
The structure of the Spring Week felt smooth. We were given a time schedule for the week on the first day, which was essential to have an idea of the upcoming activities and prepare oneself accordingly. The balance between working and networking or having lunch breaks was very well achieved.
The atmosphere was amazing thanks to all the engaging personnel but also thanks to my fellow participants which made this Spring Week even more enjoyable. Everyone was motivated, open-minded and had great stories to share.
Coming from a non-financial background, training was essential during this Spring Week. I received lots of it and of great quality, delivered by field professionals.
Having had the chance to talk to many people working at J.P. Morgan in different divisions, during the Spring Week, I developed a clear and broad view of what working there is truly like.
Everything Else
Yes, there were indeed many opportunities to network and meet employees working in different divisions and with different levels of seniority.
The networking events were great and insightful since we had the opportunity to talk directly with people from each division. This was especially helpful when trying to decide which division would suit one best. Furthermore, the fact we met with people of different seniority meant we could really have an extensive view of what starting you career at J.P. Morgan feels like versus working there for ten years, for example.
Yes, the content of one of the presentations was entirely dedicated to the opportunities employees get beyond work. Particular focus was put on the Business Resource Groups and the many volunteering opportunities, which are greatly encouraged.
Definitely without a doubt! It is an incredible opportunity to discover how a bank functions, learn valuable information and develop soft skills crucial to any kind of job. I had a great time, met a lot of engaging people and I would definitely recommend it to anyone interested in the financial sector.
