About You
I was really happy with the insight that I had at Jefferies and enjoyed the whole process. Firstly the organisation of the programme was excellent, the staff at the company were welcoming and the other interns were very nice and there wasn't much competition between us, everyone wanted to learn as much as they could.
During the time at Jefferies, I did feel valued, as we had most of the needs taking care of. For example, we had accommodation provided if needed and we were reimbursed for travel. Even only in the short period of time that I was there, I did feel that I was valued by Jefferies.
We received a lot of support from the staff at Jefferies, for example when we had our work shadowing sessions the employees at Jefferies always gave us their cards and offered to meet with us at different times if we needed any more help or if we wanted to know more about thier jobs.
Nothing directly helped with the skills for my degree subject. the insight was an introduction to the banking industry whilst my degree is in a completely different field. However, we did gain some interview skills which I could use in the future and also we had group tasks which helped with our team working skills.
The Company
The structure of the insight was very good in my opinion, from the first day where they were lots of presentations about the bank, we also had a valuable session on the different jobs within an investment bank which I had found useful also we had senior members giving us talks, work shadowing, group work and a lot of other things.
Very Very Good! I really enjoyed it, I felt that everyone I was doing the insight week were very forthcoming and easy to talk to. there was no feeling of competition between us and I have made some friends in the process. The workers also were very helpful and the staff did a great job overall
It was a short programme and hence there weren't that many opportunities for personal training and development. There was a brief introduction to financial markets conducted by an external trainer, which would give the uninitiated some insight into financial markets. As a whole however it was more of an insight programme and hence there wasn't much training.
This internship was very helpful in helping to decide whether I would be like to have a full-time role with the company. I got to know the employees, the culture, the industry, and career opportunities. I did not imagine to get such an in-depth insight in such a short period of time.
A lot. I got to know the employees and see the working culture at the office. It was not what I expected but enough to learn more about the culture. Especially the presentations were really helpful and gave hints about the chances of an individual to move the corporate ladder up.
Very valuable, I feel I know the career path I want to pursue.
Everything Else
Yes, I was given a hotel to stay at and was reimbursed in travel and dinner also.
There were plenty of opportunities to network throughout the week, we went to the finance networking dinner. We had lunch with some MD's and spoke to people who were just starting their graduate jobs to tell us about their recruitment process and experience. Also, there were evening lunches with diversity initiatives at the bank.
Apart from diversity initiatives, nothing else
