About You
The breadth of exposure J.P. Morgan gives to interns is immensely profitable. Interns are exposed to the firm through presentations on markets and banking, a touring of the trading floor and having key speakers from across the business give unique insights into technology and investment banking. The J.P Morgan spring week was a fantastic opportunity.
The HR at the firm are incredibly supportive and open to answering all questions interns are wanting to ask about the recruitment process and the firm. Staff at J.P. Morgan really go out of their way to answer our questions and to broaden our understanding of the business areas at the firm.
The Spring into finance for non-finance was an incredible opportunity to learn about the industry as the HR staff organised an incredibly educational series of training sessions from an external training provider. This enabled me to grasp new ideas and concepts that were previously foreign to me before the programme.
The Spring week has broadened my understanding beyond my degree and giving me such as phenomenal and unique insight into the world of banking that I had not previously had before J.P. Morgan. I feel more confident in approaching industry terms and applying them to market trends and capital markets in general.
The Company
The programme was very well structured from the beginning, giving myself and the interns the opportunity to explore different areas within the bank, from banking to markets. This was an incredible opportunity to be exposed to a breath of new concepts and identify an area of interest. I left knowing a lot of new concepts which I can apply every day about banking and markets.
Exposure to J.P. Morgan is incredible, the firm has such an incredible reputation and is great at what it does. Being in that environment is extremely inspiring and motivating as it grants you such as great opportunity to ask questions and to meet clever people within the bank. I left the spring week feeling very inspired.
HR hired three external training providers to educated the interns on things ranging from soft skills, capital market knowledge and financial markets in general. The soft skills training enabled us to build key skills required when working with people. J.P. Morgan hired a training provider called AMT which over two days educated us on capital markets basics. And the final training provider sought to empower us on our understanding of financial markets and the products.
In every way, possible J.P. Morgan sought to give us a whole rounded picture into the firm, from having employees networking with us, to giving us trading floor tours, to exposure into the different divisions at J.P. Morgan. Overall, I can say every opportunity gives you a great indication of what it is like to work at the firm.
J.P. Morgan is very strong on their values as that is what enables them to be so successful and to drive their business initiatives like diversity. This exposes the firm's culture to the interns and the people are very friendly which was a bonus to the experience. Overall, the spring week will give you a profound insight into what it is like to work at J.P. Morgan.
Everything about my spring week has given me such an incredible platform for my future. I have gained new knowledge about the industry and J.P Morgan which I will take with me to develop my career, I have made new connections which are invaluable to career progression and overall I am more confident in approaching the industry, thanks to J.P. Morgan.
Everything Else
J.P Morgan helps to support the students that need financial assistance throughout the week, from accommodation support to travel support. I would recommend being very open with HR about your situation so that they can support you.
I attended overall three networking events at the firm, these all gave me a good exposure into staff at J.P. Morgan. J.P. Morgan is very big on giving the opportunity for students to network, so meeting people across the bank will give you greater exposure to the business and the culture.
On the first day, we had a social event for all the interns and throughout the week we had networking events with employees. This gives you the opportunity to meet new people and grow your network amongst your peers as well as with industry leaders. Overall, you leave the spring knowing a lot of new people which is always a plus.
J.P. Morgan is very committed to inclusivity and ensuring that you are given exposure to the different business groups that meet outside the day job. These business groups range from diversity groups to sports groups, where employees can network with people within the bank to develop formal and informal relationships.
The insight is a once in a lifetime opportunity. J.P. Morgan really went above and beyond for the interns and this inspired me to seek a career in the industry. The spring week at J.P Morgan is not only an internship it is a platform that will boost your exposure to the opportunities that are before you.
