    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Great experience, learn a lot about what it’s like working at J.P. Morgan as well as taking part in fun group based technology themed activities. We had the chance to work as part of a team to complete different challenges and use everyone’s different skills to create well rounded solutions

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I got to experience work-shadowing and spoke with graduates currently doing jobs that I wish to work similar to in my future: this has made me research further the career paths and really made me think about how I can make myself employable and hopefully attend events like this in the future

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Mentors were very helpful through out coding challenges, big thanks to those who organised the week as well it was very insightful. Particularly enjoyed having the mentor to speak to throughout the robocode challenge: its great to be able to speak to people who were once in your situation and see how they got to the position they are in now.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I didn’t realise how important certain topics within my degree were within everyday work at J.P Morgan makes you really think about it. I also found that speaking to staff at JP Morgan has made me seriously think about my career. Networking and workshadowing has lead to learning about jobs that I had never previously thought about persuing.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Quite well structured lots of breaks in between workshops, catered networking and social events with very relaxed atmosphere. Some days you felt quite tired by the end but it was all worth it there’s a lot to take in but it’s an awful lot of fun, every workshop was worthwhile!

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Everyone was very friendly and approachable with a very relaxed atmosphere yet so exciting - can not recommend this experience more! Even if you do not have a big coding background it will be beneficial for you to learn and exchange your skills. Icebreaker tasks and catered events helped with the atmosphere

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I feel as though J.P. Morgan’s Spring Week provides a lot of personal development. This is through a variety of : personal branding and CV Employment workshops as well as by allowing you to network with staff and build up your network and coding based experiences. I also felt this gave us an advantage through being able to speak to current graduates and learn about the different things they do on a day to day basis

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Through workshadowing based activities with two different graduate employees at J.P. Morgan we got to speak about what they do on a day to day basis, how the day starts, any extra things outside of their work they may do related to the company. We also had a graduate panel at the beginning of the program where we asked them questions to learn about how they find working at J.P. Morgan

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Through this spring week I managed to learn an awful lot about J.P Morgan. Even through a fun trivia quiz towards the end of the week I learned a lot of fun facts about the company. JP Morgan seem like a great company to work for, they are not just an investment bank they spend a lot of time investing in charity and young people.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • After this week my eyes have been opened to seeing just some of the possible jobs out there within the technology sector. It has allowed me to consider slightly different career paths to my original plan and helped me to see how great it can be to work for a company like J.P. Morgan

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • My hotel and train was paid for as well as breakfast and lunch every day!

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There was many opportunities throughout the week to speak to/ network with employees of the company. Not only this but we got to meet staff from both of the Glasgow Offices not just the office we were located within. Networking lunch, Pizza and networking as well as having current employees mentor workshops

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The social events were really good fun, everyone took part in the bowling which was good: a lot of strangers quickly became friends: myself I had attended from Newcastle upon Tyne so I did not know anyone else when attending the program and yet everyone was so friendly! I also found networking very beneficial as the staff were all friendly and approachable aswell as being filled with great knowledge and helpful advice

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • We had a few different workshops that told us about the different opportunities available to get involved outside of work: including socials, pub quizzes, lunches, gaming clubs. As well as taking part in volunteering for things such as Code for Good as well as groups for people with a similar interest to learn / discuss things together.

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would definitely recommend this insight experience to a friend. I would also say that if you are considering a career in tech it is a great place to start off, I was one of not so many students there myself who did not study computer science and yet I found this to be a highly beneficial week!
