The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement, I got lots of opportunities to work with clients and to learn from some of the top people at IBM. I feel like its been valuable year.
Having worked on two different projects that were high pressure projects I felt valued by my colleagues as they always made time to ensure I understood everything and they explained anything I didn't.
My manager was always available to have a chat and made time to mentor me, even though he was busy all of the time.
The majority of time I was really busy but from the nature of the jobs there was some quieter days where I didn't have enough knowledge to help out or if we were waiting for a response from the client.
I was given lots of responsibility during my placement after I proved I could handle it. They made sure I was ready before giving me a lot of responsibility.
It will help the basic things like taking notes in lectures. It will also show me how to apply the work I have learned to real life scenarios.
The Company
Very happy and relaxed. At times it would be stressful near quarter end but due to the flexible working spaces you could always sit near people who weren't stressed and so the atmosphere was always good.
My placement was really well set up. I had a clear plan given to me on my first day and it has come very close to being that.
I got lots of training, I was able to attend some IBM training abroad, we have a learning platform and everyone is available to talk when they have time to help you learn.

Working from home
Really good. Everything I have been told about the grad scheme from current grads and managers has appealed to me and made me reapply.
The Culture
Yes, I didn't take full advantage of it due to commuting from home but there was always opportunities to socialise and they organised several intern parties throughout the year.
Cost of living is expensive because it is London but you get paid a premimum compared to other areas so it is manageable. Same with socialising, if you are sensible and know where to go it is fine.
It was London so it is always fun. It its one of the best areas in the world to experience nightlife.
IBM offer multiple opportunities for other activites, these include sporting events, socials and team building events.
