The Role
This was very dependant on the events of the day and the tasks that I was carrying out, but on the whole I did enjoy the experience that I had working in supply chain, with the key aspect of problem solving being something that appeals to the strengths that I have.
In the workplace I felt particularly valued by everyone inside the team that I was working with as they would be extremely nice and helpful with any queries that I had. They also appreciated any help that I could give them with their daily tasks and the cover that I would provide in annual leave situations. I couldn't have wished for a better team to be within.
During my internship I was able to talk to my line manager at any point with problems that I may have had in my daily tasks. I also had fortnightly cat up sessions for my projects that I was working for which helped me visualise the next steps that I would take.
This fluctuated very regularly from a day to day basis depending on the time of the week and the time of the year that it was. At the start of the internship and leading up to Christmas I was extremely busy however, during the Spring I felt like the levels of work were not constant and could be really quiet of extremely busy.
During my time at L'Oréal I was given a lot of responsibility to start with, making sure that the part of the business I was working on was given the correct level of management. As the time progressed I was given more responsibly by learning new aspect of the supply chain that I was able to manage.
The skills that I learnt that will improve my employability directly, particularly with the use of SAP and the level of proficiency that I now have with Microsoft Excel, as well opening my eyes to how the supply chains functions. On a personal level the experience has really helped with my confidence and my organisation which will help me greatly in the future.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was really good most days, even when people were extremely busy. There were a few times when there was a bit of tension between different departments over issues but all of these times the tensions were resolved and this allowed everyone to get on really well.
I think that this is very dependant on the role that you have gone and where you are situated for this, but I think in general my Internship was set up fairly well. This meant that i could still learn fro what i was doing, while also adding value to the company from my role.
During the year there was a range of compulsory and non-compulsory events that I was able to attend. A lot of the training that occurred in the first few weeks was very good at helping me adapt to the workplace. There was also training in Healthy and Safety aspects of the workplace which were quite eye-opening and useful.

Like most places L'Oréal offer the graduate role of management trainee which is something which I think appeals to a lot of people, including myself. However, they also offer the talent track option which would be perfect for someone who knows exactly what they want to do and can join at an entry level.
The Culture
For me, in the location that I was, the social aspect wasn't there with fellow interns. From what I could see there were a lot more opportunities in London, where the bulk of the interns were living and working, so unless you have friends at the other cities then you may not want to work outside of London.
For me the cost of living was really cheap i was able I was able to live in somewhere i found on SpareRoom.com. The most expensive aspect for me was travelling on weekends to be able to see my friends at university or go to see my family and friends back at home .
I went out a few times with some of the permanent members of staff which was fairly nice with the bars in the city but at the workplace I was at, socialising together outside of the office wasn't something that a lot of people in the office did on a regular occasion.
Again this is dependant on the location that you were in. There were a few opportunities at the start of the internship to get involved in charity work for local organisations that would benefit from a days worth of help, but apart from that there were not too many more options from what I can remember.
