About You
Very informative, well organised insight week. It allowed me to see how technology plays a part in the financial industry. The work shadowing was particularly interesting as it meant we could see what it would actually be like to work there and the various workshops gave us an insight into the different fields within the technology departments.
People were always happy to answer any questions we had and seemed genuinely interested in what we were doing and what we had to say. Although, we were mainly taking part in events specifically organised for the insight week so did not really help with the daily work of the firm.
Everyone helping with the insight week was really friendly and helpful and always answered our questions and offered us advice. In every activity there were people there to help. Also when we did the coding challenges there were people currently on the graduate scheme acting as our mentors, allowing us to constantly ask them questions.
My degree is not directly linked to the insight week, however it has encouraged me to learn how to code properly and we got a lot of advice for the future. A particularly useful session was about personal branding, as it taught us how to make a good impression which will be very useful when it comes to applying for summer internships and graduate jobs.
The Company
The insight week was incredibly well structured. We got given a timetable on the first day telling us all the activities planned for the whole week and were also sent information about the programme structure several weeks before the insight started. The insight week covered lots of different areas, including workshops, work shadowing, networking and social events allowing us to develop lots of skills.
Everyone working at the company seemed really happy and friendly and were always happy to help us. I got the impression that the company is a really nice place to work. Also the people helping with the insight week made sure there was a nice atmosphere within the group by mixing up groups to get us to meet more people.
It really helped me understand company and I saw first hand how nice a working environment the company provides. This is mainly due to being told about the opportunities to rotate teams within the company to find what is for you and also finding out about the activities offered to the company employees.
Everything Else
There were lots of opportunities to meet employees of the company through work shadowing and having mentors for some of the workshops. Also we had several networking events, either over lunch or in the evening which allowed us to improve our skills in this area and talk to lots of new people.
There were several networking events which let us practice what we had learnt in the personal branding session early in the week and helped us improve our communication skills. The social events were really enjoyable and allowed us to get to know lots of other people on the insight week.
Yes I got told about the sport, language and music activities offered by the company during my work shadowing. Furthermore, in the talks we were told about the volunteering opportunities and how employees can suggest ideas. In addition to this during the work shadowing we were shown the company gym.
I definitely would as it gave me a really good understanding of the company and what it is like to work there. Furthermore, not only did we gain experience in many areas within the technology part of the firm, we were also allowed to go to the finance networking event which meant we got an insight into that as well.
