    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I found my placement year at Hays great. The level of support was amazing and the development I feel I achieved across the 12 months was incredible. At first I found the role slightly daunting going into a large organisation, however once I had got comfortable and understood the role, what was required of me and what I wanted to achieve in the year it became great.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Obviously some people you will tend to get on better with than others but on the whole I feel I really gelled with and got on with everyone I worked with. From meeting up for drinks after work to being invited to a colleagues wedding, I really feel I made friendships which will last longer than the placement.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The level of support and training from this internship was nothing short of perfect. I found that whenever I needed any support people where more than happy to spend some time to help or to pass me onto someone better suited to guide me on whatever query I had at the time. Also the regular training in which was provided allowed me to develop skills which wouldn't just help for this role but in the future.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I never had a moment when there wasn't something I could be doing. There definitely were moments when I had lots on and was extremely busy, but when it quietened down and I had covered off what I had been working on I was able to keep myself suitably busy throughout.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Once I had an understanding of the area in which I was working with and what I needed to do I was directly dealing with clients and candidates with complete freedom. I was trusted to gain business in whatever way I felt best as I had proven that I was capable to have this responsibility.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Working within a corporate environment, dealing with a range of candidates and clients and being in the world of work has given me so many tools to use later in life. From knowing how best to write a CV and submit a job application to how to deal with people more senior than you (either internally or externally), these skills will be incredibly useful for me going forward.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in the office was generally great. I got on with the majority of people that I worked with and the office for the most part got on. There was a bit of turnover within the office which meant a few people left but this ended up improving the offices atmosphere so was a good thing. There was always chat going about the office, apart from the parts where people had things to be getting on with.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • 5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I had the chance to take part in numerous trainings which where both optional and part of the intern scheme. From going to London to classroom sessions to having the chance to work with a number of different colleagues from offices all around the area, I was supported and encouraged to do these to aid my personal development.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    National Travel

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The company make a point of making the placement directly what you would be doing in a full time position. This allows you to get a good understanding of various career paths within the organisation and what your career could lead to. Hays make a big point of getting people back from internships and is definitely something I would consider.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There where a few occasions in which I had the chance to spend time with other interns. As I was in a smaller offices I ended up being the only intern for the majority of my time here. However I had chances to take part in trainings with other interns from around the country as well as go to an intern conference.
