The Role
Working for Hays I had the rare opportunity to have an internship working for one of Hays' clients, UBS. This was a very enjoyable and invaluable experience and I believe Hays is a very good company to work for. I will warn you that the hours are tough at first but it does get easier!
My colleagues made my placement the best experience it could be. I loved my team, my managers were very supportive and importantly, I did not feel like the intern.
I can not fault my team leader, managers and director. I always felt their support and felt valued.
I have never been bored and always had something to do. It was a great balance, because my team were very supportive and I never felt I was struggling or alone, which is extremely important.
I feel I was given a lot of responsibility, but a good balance as I never felt overwhelmed or stressed.
My skills have developed massively and I am very lucky to have finished this placement as I know I will be more successful in my degree. As I have been here, a lot of my degree has made a lot more sense now and I feel as though I could not have developed so much without these 12 months. I recommend an intern year to every student
The Company
Can be quiet with people concentrating but also very friendly and welcoming. Very helpful and drinks on a Friday!
Very organised and strict with data, which is good!
My internship was unique, so if you are joining the recruiter intern role then a there is a lot of investment in you. LinkedIn skills are also a bonus!
Company Parties/Events
Very appealing. Hays is an exciting place to work as there are so many different opportunities. It is not a surprise that the majority of Hays employees stay here for many years.
The Culture
I have built many friendships with my fellow interns and non intern colleagues.
I luckily lived at home so there was only travel costs which is expensive. Renting in London is also very expensive and I'd recommend bringing food from home as it is easy to spend a lot at lunch time.
It's London, there's a lot of night life!
The on campus team arrange many outside activities for the interns.
