The Role
I really loved my job working in the Skoda Press office. It was a great experience where I was able to participate in lots of different duties and activites. The people in the compay are so nice and supportive. Also, the benefits are amazing.
I always felt very valued by the team, there was always support available when I need it and my manager especially was extremely dedicated to giving me the best of my experience.
Due to my position I reported directly to my manager. Otherwise, the rest of management were always there for support if I needed it. They were always approachable. I also had the benefit of being able to talk to the other brand press managers for support if I needed anything. I was always given the opportunity to ask.
We were always very busy, but then thats the way I like to work. It's no fun if you've not constantly got something to do. The PR industry is very dynamic and constantly on the move. You have to be alert and ready for action at all times and be ready to work under pressure and time constraints. I love it!
During my placement I was given a lot of responsibility, I was given the chance to run my own event and I was able to assit on many other both in house and during the actual event. I was given lots of projects to complete including my biggest project that involved the change of a media coverage supplier.
I was lucky enough to recieve lots of training while I was on my placement. I was able to go to lots of training courses including CIPR courses. This together with my experience has been extremely beneficial towards my last year in uni because I can relate the real life job to the theory in which we learn in class. Also, some of the training courses I have been to have also given me a headstart in class. I think the experience altogether has been important becuase it lets you work in the real world, you can see how a business is run and how the people work inside it. This is essential experience which future employers are looking for, the extra factor!
The Company
The office was always a busy place, especially in our corner, my job definitely was the messiest. The whole Skoda brand has a open plan office and it always felt like we had the best atmosphere comepared with the other brands in the company. It was always more fun-filled and upbeat. Lots of nice banter but also lots of hard work.
The placement scheme was set up brilliantly, I can't think of anything that was wrong with it.
A lot of training was invested in me. Again, I was extremely lucky to have such an understanding manager who really felt that training was very important, and that I should make the most of it while I had the chance.

I am keeping in touch with the HR team and I am in good contact with the people I know from my experience. I have had a lot of good feedback.
The Culture
There wasn't to many students on the placement scheme and there were a good few who lived at home and travelled in. So not all the time. We did do our best to make the most out of it though, and all the students got on very well.
We lived in Milton Keynes which wasn't too bad, the cost of rent and bills were relatively normal (other than our combi boiler not functioning correctly and double charging us). Socialing was like any other place, of course it costs money. And as it is down south, it is going to be relatively expensive.
The nightlife is limited as Milton Keynes only has one place to go and thats Oceania, but it was always a good night out.
There are lots of activites that the employees do outside work. With my particular job role I spent a lo of time in and out of a suitcase travelling so I didn't do many of these activies. But there are opportunities to get involved. Also, there's lots of places like the gym and normal leisure facilities in the surrounding area.
