About You
The programme was very enjoyable as it provided an insight into the runnings of the business. We were introduced to the workings of various departments who teamed together to produce and market amazing products. There was a very friendly atmosphere during the placement and interesting activities to take part in as well. Overall it was a postive experience I would definitely recommend.
I felt valued at the company because the programme was designed in a way that helped us make the most of the experience. There were many opportunities to ask questions and contribute to discussions. All Unilever colleagues I spoke to were kind, approachable and provided great advice on various different subjects.
The programme coordinators Grace and Olivia were incredibly supportive and always available for questions or to provide guidance. They made sure the programme supported our needs and answered any questions we had about the business or the departments within the business. Speaking to many Unilever colleagues I found that they were also willing to give great advice from when they were in our positions.
The programme has definitely broadened my horizons by introducing me to the environment within a fast moving consumer goods company. I see myself working within a research and development team to produce products that consumers want and need. The communication and team-work skills I have developed during the programme will support me in my degree and future career.
The Company
The insight was very well structured. Grace and Olivia made sure that all of our questions were answered and we were . We gained an insight into multiple areas of business including R&D, food solutions and marketing. Each activity flowed from the previous one and the overall aims of the programme were clear.
The insight provided a very friendly and supportive atmosphere. The dinners together provided time to get to know the other students in the programme as well as build connections and networks within the company. There were quizzes and competitions which engaged the students and built the team spirit within the programme.
The programme allowed development of many employability skills such as communication, team-work and presentation. The company invested time into developing our understanding of the business functions and responsibilities of certain roles. We were allowed to present our ideas to a team which provided useful feedback on our presentation skills and the idea itself.
After this programme I feel significantly more imformed of the responsibilities of a role in a fast moving consumer goods company. Networking dinners provided many opportunities to gain valuable advice and knowledge of what to expect from a full-time role. The day-to-day workings vary in a role so that there is always challenge and opportunities to develop
The programme was useful in understanding the culture of the company because we became familiar with the company aims. We were shown how different departments support each other to produce a good quality final product. Networking with Unilever colleagues highlighted how passionate everyone is for their business area. This helped me understand the incredible work ethic and community within the company.
The programme was very informative and valuable in motivating my future career path. I have experienced the goals of the research and development team and would like to build a career path in this field. The programme allowed us to network with senior management within research and development. There were opportunities to ask any questions we had about their role in the business or their career path. The programme has definitely broadened my horizons on whT I would like my career path to be.
