The Role
Wow, what an experience! I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at IBM, I have presented with various opportunities to grow my skill set both professional and personally. I would recommend this placement to all who want a real challenge and want to be adding value to real projects.
My Base role at IBM could probably account for 30 hours a week, it’s the other 10 hours where you are given flexibility to seek out new roles and engage in business which isn’t typically in your job description. I felt mostly-valued by my team and would encourage all work there to not get comfortable and find more projects to get involved in.
I was given several resources to improve my skills here, this is something IBM does extremely well in! Education and guidance is a core value at IBM and you’re given several days/weeks to learn new systems and learn new skills steadily
This is something that I got to decide, my average work week can consist of 30 – 50 hours a week depending if I’m involved on a project that has several deadlines occurring or perhaps its coming to end of the quarter.
This fluctuates, although I have been given various pieces of responsibility but nothing too serious.
9-5 structure will have a great impact, networking Willingness to learn and self motivation have all increased due to this placement
The Company
Typical office space, not much excitement most of the time, this may be due to the fact I work in Sales operations and all my team were on client sites. iX studio is pretty awesome and lively, I would reccomend working there if your looking for a buzz!
Cant fault this, Intership was set up amazingly, there was always buddy's/managers there to help.
Educations is large value at IBM. There were several networking events and careers academy talks you could attened.
Flexi Time
Financial Bonus
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Working from home
Career projection seems pretty steady, general feeling is that they invest alot of time in you during graduate progression, after that I've been told fair fe employees leave fro competitors, Accenture/Salesforce/Business partners
The Culture
There is a good socail scene, I didnt really get involved and found like I didnt really find my people at IBM.
Riduculous! Lived in London so what do you expect. Its very expensive but there are always cheapish places to go after a little scouting
awesome - central expensive but enjoyable
a few things on but not as many opportunities as I would like.
