    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Loved the workplace and the staff we were exposed to/met. Enjoyed the different workshops, especially the sales/interactive ones. Got a lot of value out of shadowing and asking questions of the staff we met, and just in general, got a great feel for the company culture. Enjoyed the challenge/experience of learning to use the terminal, and the freedom we had to be able to come in early/stay late throughout the week.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Staff were all very warm. Though large and with many employees, Bloomberg has a way of making us feel very welcome. Didn't particularly make a measurable impact as such in the company, but the insight week definitely gave us a good insight into what it could be like working there.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Always had as much as we needed. In terms of using the terminal/putting together our projects, we could always count on any of the staff being willing to help! There was at least one staff supervising when we were working on our projects. And during workshops etc, we were always very welcome to ask questions.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learnt a great deal about financial topics - equities, bonds, FX, etc. I learnt so much in just one week, that I felt like I didn't even need to study finance in my degree! It makes me realise how valuable a company like Bloomberg is, because they can teach their staff so much in a short period of time, and I really enjoyed it too. Also got a lot of advice about applying for internships etc, will be very valuable for future.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Very well structured and organised. Organisers did a fantastic job, we always knew what was happening. Potentially could've been room for more ghosting of staff, but in general, there was so much learning and activities fit into the week already. Everything ran smoothly and was a very valuable use of time.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • I loved the atmosphere! Vibrant and fun, full of learning, networking, exploring the physical Bloomberg workplace. A lot of fun meeting and working with the other insight week students too. I remember every day, walking into Bloomberg with a big smile on my face! Sad the week went so quickly... I highly recommend going into work early and enjoying the breakfast and amazing view of St Pauls! Definitely quite a unique place to work :)

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Obviously a week is very short, but the staff put in a lot of time and effort to look after/teach/network/communicate with us throughout the week. I was very impressed. Also financially, they invested in us too, in terms of paying for accommodation and travel (of those who required), and providing us more than enough lunch vouchers.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Definitely helped with this. We got to see first hand what it would be like to work in the company. Of course, a week is a very short time. And internship/longer position would probably help more for this. But overall, for a week of working there, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I was able to understand what it would be like to work there.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Extremely helpful. It's very easy to assume a company's culture from what you think or what you've heard. For Bloomberg, everyone knows from the outside, that it has a great company culture. But to experience it through working there during the week, was an amazing opportunity! It's a place that encourages new ideas, collaboration, learning, and truly invests in it's employees. Loved it!

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Got a great insight to a potential future career path. As a student, future career is up in the air, and it was great insight into what I wanted to do.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • - Free breakfast at Bloomberg every morning (if you go in with time to spare of course) - Lunch coupons to pay for all lunches/meals we ate throughout the week, more than enough. - I live in London, so did not need reimbursement for travel or accommodation, but it was offered if I needed it.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Yes

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • My favourite, was definitely the last day's networking event. There were so many different staff present, and it was lovely having the opportunity to have conversations with staff that were all in different positions and came from different backgrounds. Also though, I loved being able to easily meet and network with Bloomberg staff through meeting people during lunch breaks etc. It's very easy to strike up a conversation with someone while you're at the coffee machine, or getting snacks in the pantry :)

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Definitely
