The Role
Really enjoyable working environment with friendly colleges and engaging work
At first work was a bit slow but towards the end I learnt a lot and felt like I was a necessary part of the team
My managers where very busy so sometimes had to wait for an available time to gain help. everyone is very knowledgeable so I was rarely stuck. I also had frequent one-to-one meetings with both manager and supervisor witch was very useful.
At the start it was slow, took ages to download software and build knowledge and trust to work on bigger projects so I was occasionally struggling to find work. after a few months this improved and I was fully in control of my workflow.
I was very surprised with the responsibility that I was trusted with. I was a part of the team and had big responsibility's. After the first few months my work had real world affects so I felt like my job had meaning. I also had the support from my colleges so I had a lifeline if anything was to go bad.
This Job has given me an insight on what to expect after studying. the work is very different to studies as I have rarely needed an in-depth knowledge like I studied in uni. It was good to know the main concepts but this job wont help me in many exams
The Company
Friendly staff but I only got to know the people I directly worked with or sit next to. I worked in a large office witch I didn't enjoy.
It was set up very proficiently. I was given support before starting and went through useful training in my first few weeks. it was split into two departments so really got to understand the company.
at the beginning the placements went through a training course and was given online tasks. People took a fair amount of time out of there work to train me. We also went on trips to other facilities to understand a broader sense of the company

Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday

I have been told that I would have a large chance of returning as a graduate. If the company has spent time training you and you do a good job, you will have a large advantage in your application for a future job here.
The Culture
I have found the evenings pretty boring and peterbough doesn't have a great nightlife. I mostly socialised with older friends so didn't always join the other students at events. other experiences may differ if you become friends housemates/students
My house was large but still reasonably cheap. I found socialising didn't cost much but I lived in an expensive town prior to starting.
I only went out twice in my placement as I didn't spend many weekends in Peterbough. clubbing wasn't great but there was nice pubs.
There was a group of people who organised events for placements/grads and I was provided a list of clubs to join.
