The Role
I am grateful to have had this working environment experience. However, I do not believe enough focus is put on interns as many are twiddling their thumbs half the time.
I feel average valued, the correct amount for a placement student.
My manager was excellent and we had a 1:1 meeting every other week when some interns haven't had one of these all year.
I would definitely have a couple hours each day where I wasn't working too hard and get bored.
I think I have been given the correct amount. It wasn't a lot, but with the department I am in, i do not believe any more than this would have been appropriate. i work a lot by myself but my manager will generally glance over all of my work before anything happens with it which is good.
General skills developed, comfortable with 3 or so new software programmes. Nothing to do with course.
The Company
Quiet and pretty hard working. Good to work in.
Start of placement dreadfully organised. Plenty of issues with contract, no help with houses. didnt get paid for 2 months.
Very Very little. Team had an overnight stay with exercises and activites to do with work and interns were not invited depite their being 3 of us and that additional cost being very minimal.
Flexi Time
Company Car
Subsidised/Company Gym
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
Zero chance, no ex interns hired as graduates in last 5 years. 5 grads per year, 70+ interns per year.
The Culture
Yes. very good. All organised by interns but very good. Football every week and social generally at a pub every week also.
Expensive. Salary not high enough in comparison with house costs. I paid £600 per month including bills. Oxford prices....
Good, could be better but okay.
Yes, football, socials etc..
