The Role
I enjoyed the placement from start to finish. The work was challenging and I received training throughout. My role was cross industry so I gained experience and knowledge across the board which will be valuable when starting my career and choosing my next steps. Doing a placement has made the university experience worthwhile.
I felt extremely valued by my colleagues. I was trusted by senior VP's in the company to produce and present work which contributed to the team. I received feedback throughout and was taken to senior board meetings and trusted to represent our brand well. I could not thank the team more for their support.
I was given great support by my managers. Our team was led by a Vice President who had been in the organization for many years. He shared knowledge with me that I will use for many years to come and gave advice that has helped me choose my next steps.
I have been very busy on my placement. I essentially had two managers. A day to day job manager where most tasks were standard every week and we reported into the same management team. And my second manager was a part of the large deals team who received requests for support of which I helped her with.
I was given responsibility from day one. Each month we reported into the UK General Manager and each quarter we reported to the European General Manager. I helped created the decks that were used for these meetings and collected the collateral from other brands. Attention to detail was key and the team put a lot of trust into my ability to produce the work correctly.
I would one hundred percent say the skills I have developed with assist in future employment and life. I am not sure if they will help in my studies. I think the attention to detail will help and getting up at 6am every day will help too. The learning and approcach to business problems will give me different opinions to my class mates.
