The Role
I really enjoyed my placement role at IBM, as well as undertaking opportunities such as giveback, online learning and shadowing
My colleagues made me feel very welcome form day one and were always there to support me, even outside work
My task manager was always very supportive, giving useful advice and helping out whenever I struggled.
It was varied, my role is very project based and therefore, some days I would be very busy without having time to take a break. On the other days, it was more relaxed which was very useful to an extent that I could dedicate that time to work on university essays and grad application
I was given a lot of responsibility straight after the handover
Although my role was not linked to my degree, the skills I developed and experience gained will help with my work style at university and when I graduate
The Company
My office consists of only 10 people and depending on the time of the year, it was either full and lively or empty and quite
I think it was very organised. I first had an induction followed by handover and real work. I was assigned an Early Professional Manager who I had regular contact with and a Task Manager
Multiple opportunities available such as online learning, giveback and shadowing. My task manager was very supportive of that and let me undertake personal development courses during office hours
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
National Travel
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
Very appealing, especially the CBD scheme which I am applying to
The Culture
Great social scene, especially with the Hub being the place where everyone would play games at
In Winchester it was pretty expensive
Absolutely no Nightlife in Hursley/Winchester. Had to go to Southampton for that
Plenty of opportunities advertised daily via emails or on company channels
