The Role
My role has been constantly different as we receive different requests everyday. This has made it exciting and enjoyable on a day to day basis
The members on my team would sometimes come to me to ask for some help and appreciated the work I did for my geography.
Both my task manager and EPM have been so friendly and helpful throughout my entire year, whether it be a work based problem or personal.
It often varied on the amount of emails I received, but there was always extra learning or something outside of my normal role which I could work on.
Since the first day I was given a high level of responsibility which at first was daunting but I soon learnt to appreciate this and take it all on my shoulders.
My communcation skills has dramatically increased, both oral and written. My confidence has also improved alongside this which has made me more comfortable in my work as well as my problem solving skills
The Company
While an office is never going to be non-stop fun, I was able to easily interact with those around me and everyone was so nice and friendly which made the atmosphere more relaxing.
The placement program is so well organised and we have always been in constant contact with people if there were any waits or if we had any questions. The care we recieve once on the programme has also been of the highest quality.
IBM want to make you grow in so many different ways, and more so than just in your daily role. They offer so many giveback opportunities which makes you branch out in fun, new environments and different tasks.

I have really enjoyed being part of the IBM culture and their grad programmes are so well sought after so it would be silly of me not to re-apply.
The Culture
I have lived with other placement students which has been really fun, and we are always looking to do things together as a group.
For a small city, portsmouth is relatively expensive.. The bills and rent are the highest costs but food and drinks etc are normal prices.
As Portsmouth is a university city, there are a fair few clubs and pubs with some young people going which has made it more enjoyable.
The giveback opportunities have been able to get me out of my daily role into new situations to develop skills I normally wouldn't. They also offer clubs such as volleyball in the summer.
