Intern Review

I enjoyed working for an international company like Rolls Royce and I really liked the work environement. I learned a lot of new things about work life and also about my own strengths and weakness. I enjoyed coming to work and also the possibilities to see other departments and their work in order to see the big picture.

In general I felt very valued by my colleagues and as an equal part of the team. It was very easy for me to get along with my colleagues and they were very eager to help whenever there were questions coming up and they also didn't hesitate to show me around and explain me everything.

Whenever I had any questions they were very supportive and I never felt like a burden when asking many questions in order to fully understand a task. They gave me a lot of opportunities and freedom, which is highly appreciated. I also appreciated the open and straight-forward relation we have.

In the beginning I was very busy because I took over the job of two interns. It was a huge workload and I wasn't able to finish everything. After some time I got more efficient and learned what tasks need to be prioritized. After two months a new intern started and the workload got a lot less.

I was responsible for doing special tasks right at the beginning since they always have been done by interns and I highly appreciated it. Whenever something didn't work out I was the only one to solve it (even though I always could ask my colleagues for help) and I enjoyed that.

I definetly got better in prioritizing and handling stress/workload. Since english is not my native language I was able to improve my skills to a high extent and got a lot more secure and routined in speaking english on a daily basis and professional level. It was an enriching experience.

The atmosphere was quite relaxed, but still professional. There was always time for a joke or a chat, but I could also create a concentrated work atmosphere if I wanted to. I also appeciated that I didn't have to sit at my desk the whole day, but could go to the production area as well.

In the beginning I was missing some access and it also took time for the batch to arrive, so that I couldn't enter all areas I need to enter. In general I felt highly supported by HR and my proxy for any kind of questions or struggled I may have had.

I had a PQM training in order to be able to raise PQM incidents myself, which I really liked. Anyhow, I'd appreciate to have like a workshop at the actual car itself to learn more about the parts, modules and how they work together. During my internship at BMW in Dingolfing I was able to work at the assemby line for one week and it was an very enriching experience.

I really enjoy working for the BMW Group and could definetly imagine to join programmes like Fast Lane or doing a traineeship after finishing my Masters. I don't know yet where exactly I see myself working in the future, but this experience definetly gave me an idea of it and created even more possibilities.

Chichester doesn't have a lot to offer to be honest, but I really enjoyed it anyway. Since there are basically three pubs/bars everyone is going to, it feels very cozy and it is perfect to get in touch with people and having fun times with other interns or other colleagues.

In Chichester it was very easy to get in touch with people since it's a very small town and also a comparable small plant. I got to know a lot of people right from the start and I enjoyed going on weekend trips or a having a beer after work at the beach.
