The Role
I absolutely loved my time at GSK, I couldn't have picked a better company to work for. The people within the organisation are fantastic too. During my placement I was given meaningful, impactful work and always felt like a valued member of the team.
I always felt valued by my team and my contributions were always welcomed. I was not once treated like a student, but instead treated like a fully functioning member of the team.
During my placement, I had regular one to ones with my Programme Manager. Our conversations were not only about work, but also focused on my development (personal and professional), my health/wellbeing and career aspirations.
Throughout my placement I was provided the right amount of work. Furthermore, due to the culture and environment GSK creates, I never hesitated to discuss my workload and capacity with my colleagues. At times when I had the capacity to take on more work, I always asked and was given more to do. Conversely, I felt comfortable sharing the times when I was at maximum capacity too.
During my time at GSK, I was empowered to own my placement and to take on responsibility. In addition to this, my colleagues always supported me and set me up for success, to ensure I performed my best.
The skills I have learned and developed whilst on my placement have set me up for life. The type of skills I learned whilst at GSK, were ones which you cannot learn in a classroom, but instead are on the job type learning. Deciding to do an industrial placement with GSK was one of the best decisions I ever made.
The Company
From the moment you arrive at GSK, there is a distinct atmosphere. Everyone is friendly and will set you up to succeed.
The program was brilliantly set up and organized. My placement was unique because I was allowed to rotate throughout the the business unit.
It is clear that GSK is a company which invests in it's employees. I was offered multiple training and development opportunities throughout my year which really contributed to my skill set.

Working from home
Having worked a year at GSK, I would love to return after I have finished my studies.
The Culture
The placement students have a society which arranges social and educational events. The events were always executed well and fun.
Living in London is always going to be more expensive than other cities however, with the salary you are paid at GSK, you are able to live very comfortably.
The nightlife will vary depending on where you live however, London has great transport links therefore, you are never too far from a good night out.
Yes, GSK has many groups of people who are involved in activities outside of work. In particular, there are lots of sport activities to participate in.
