Junior Analyst Review

It was good fun. There were many social events with the extended team, so got to know them all relatively well. The work was demanding, but everyone was motivated and there was a good atmosphere. Of course there are stressful periods that aren't enjoyable, and you are pushed out of your comfort zone.

All colleagues were friendly and more than happy to help at any point. There was an inclusive atmosphere and I was treated as if I were any other member of the team. Set up feedback sessions with your supervisor if you feel as if you aren't providing value, they will be happy to give pointers to improve.

Support was given whenever needed or asked for, and everyone was happy to help. That being said you are left to be independent in your work after base training and expected to work out factors for yourself - you aren't spoon fed. All tasks are clearly explained with appropriate guidance.

There was always something to do. Often the amount of work required many more hours than contracted, working late into the evening, The workload followed 'cycles', with some periods being much more busy than others. There are 'flexible' working hours, employees sometimes leave early on a Friday or if you need to go to a doctors appointment you can with no pushback (as long as it is not abused and you complete the work you need to).

Took on as much responsibility as any other employee in the team. You make and present presentations, call & email Directors and colleagues across the world. You are in charge of organising your own time, as long as all deadlines are met - you have flexibility with how you manage your time.

The placement was hugely beneficial for development. The corporate world requires a different level of sills that aren't obtained at university. These soft skills (presenting, communication, decision making, leadership etc.) are needed for future employment, and are key factors employers look for. You also make many connections within the company, they may be able to help with future employment - whether that be with your placement provider or not.

Its a friendly atmosphere, were everyone is willing to help each other. The office is based in woodland so there is a purpose built walk around the office, often deer can be seen along with other wildlife. It includes an onsite gym, and subsidised canteen. Overall there is a positive attitude.

I was the first placement in my team, so there was lack of materials for the on-boarding and training at the start. Hopefully that changes with future students as there is lots of information thrown at you when you begin that can be overwhelming. That being said, the application process was smooth and well organised.

The company invested a great deal. I was able to travel and meet people from several countries across the world, and they were happy to pay all related expenses as if I were any other employee. There are lots of trainings on various matters, some are mandatory and some you can pick if you partake or not.

From an employees point of view: the company is great to work for and there are many benefits they provide. I would be happy working in the same place in the future. The placement gives you the opportunity to creat contacts within the company that may help with future employment. There is also lots of information about FLDP (finance graduate scheme), and people are willing to help with references etc.

There are social company events throughout the year that everyone goes to (Christmas/summer parties) and colleagues often see each other at weekends or go to the pub/concerts/general events. Many of the placement students lived together so they hosted events are their house or went out together. So yes, a good social scene.

I was based in the South East of England, so living costs were high. Rent was largest expense follow by travel. The office was not easily accessible if you didn't not have a car, so many of the placement students lived together and shared lifts to the office and back.

There was little nightlife in the town where the office was based. Nearby was a large city with Universities so the nightlife was greater there, but it was at least half an hour away. Often all the placement students gathered together to go out, or host their own events in their houses.

You can have up to 5 CSR days a year sponsored by the company. This includes helping out at nearby charities with whatever they may need (gardening, fixing fences etc).
