    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The placement was great with a lot of skills learnt throughout my time on placement. I enjoyed coming into work and actually look forward to it on my days off

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt valued as much as any member of the team would feel valued within a company. I became very close with my team

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Regular meetings with my manager to find out how I am doing. They regularly checked up on me to make sure i was getting what i wanted out of placement

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was very busy within my job role. But I felt this helped me develop my multi-tasking skills and showed that my job was important within the company.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given as much responsibility as anyone on my team

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I believe my skills coming from a technical background were not utilised as well as they could have been. It gets a bit disheartening when you see colleagues in apprenticeship roles receiving better opportunities with a large amount of time spent with more technical teams within the company. As an undergraduate I have the skills and capabilities to get involved with more technical areas within the department, although this really is not used. I can honestly say that on a technical side I have not gained any experience that will benefit me going into university. In fact I will say it will hinder me, as I have now spent a year away from studying any related topics as my university degree was more technical than my job role at VWFS. The interpersonal skills I have developed throughout my time at the company have been amazing. As well as the life lifeskills lessons that were given to undergraduates

    2/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Great atmosphere to work in everyone within the department was very approachable and great to work with

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The general work placement was set up very well and seemed to be better for some departments compared to mine. I believe there could have been more organisation involved in developing my technical skills throughout the job role. Overall it was well organised but could have been slightly better for my specific placement.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company provided many opportunities to develop my interpersonal skills throughout my year which I am greatly thankful for.
