The Role
It is a challenging role but I find it incredibly rewarding and invaluable in developing skills.
I am a valued member of the team and am asked for recommendations, conduct interviews and attend meetings and social events.
Being in an open plan office, I have support from all teams, not only my own. My manager is enthusiastic and keen to help me be the best consultant I can be.
It is a high pressured jobs and the phones don't stop ringing but you learn to deal with it. There isn't any time to get distracted and there are lots of targets to reach, always keeping you busy.
I definitely wasn't running the show because it is very much team orientated. However, I have been trusted to deal with a number of sensitive issues and a high level of responsibility.
I have gained so much confidence dealing with clients, candidates and collegues. The skills I have developed are vital for the recruitment industry however are also extremely transferable which will undoubtedly benefit me in my final year.
The Company
Always busy, fast paced and very motivating.
We have regular catch ups with our managers, the other placement students here and the actual consultants that recruited us. There are handbooks available, textbooks to borrow and dissertation workshops to help us with our uni work. It is very well organised and I feel like I have all the support I need, in addition to that at uni.
We took part on a fantastic induction training course to introduce us to all aspects of the company. We also have refresher courses to ensure we are using programs to their full potential, the regular appraisals also ensure that I am working towards my targets and if I am having any difficulties then my manager with me how I can overcome them.

Company Parties/Events
Very fast-paced and financially rewarding so the time and effort you put into the role usually pays off which is appealing for future employment.
The Culture
There is a small group of us which has ensured that we all get to know each other quickly and participate in regular social activities, both together and with other colleagues. We can support each other and share tips on how we are working. I have also learnt about the sectors that the other placement students are working in , which I wouldn't usually have contact with.
I work in the city so it is quite expensive.
Lots of pubs and bars to go to afer work.
Not so many weekly/montly activities although everyone tends to look forward to Champagne Friday at the end of the month!
