The Role
I enjoyed my Placement at J&J. Working in Supply Chain, I had the challenge of ensuring Implants & Instruments could be shipped to hospitals to be used in Orthopedic Surgery. I had some fantastic experiences and was exposed to different areas of the business. I really enjoyed communicating with sales consultants on a daily basis.
I felt really valued by more colleagues and believe J&J is a great place to work. I had fantastic support when starting my placement which allowed me to settle in my role and increase my confidence. I felt my opinions were valued when evaluating new processes which was really rewarding,
My manager gave me amazing support and ensured my placement was thoroughly enjoyable.
I was very busy on a daily basis. I had several responsibilities which were crucial to the performance of UK supply chain.
I was given a large amount of responsibility on my placement. Despite this, I believe in the 2nd half of my placement I could have been given further responsibilities which would have increased my development.
My skills have developed significantly. This is particularly the case with IT (Excel, Outlook) as well as my interpersonal and time management skills. I have also learnt several life skills which will benefit me in the future.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office had a great balance between working hard but also having a a laugh and a joke every so often.
J&J invested in my training considerably. This is especially the case in the first few months of placement where I learnt the skills necessary for the working world. I have also been on a training course to increase my work-life balance as well as having the opportunity to shadow inventory managers and witness a surgery.
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
Healthcare/Dental
Despite their being job opportunities and graduate schemes on offer, none of these related to my placement so didn't really appeal to me.
The Culture
The social scene at my work is ideal. We have 5/6 nights out a year which is a great chance to learn more about your colleagues without it feeling forced. Also I have been lucky enough to play in the weekly 5 a side team which has ended with a trip to Latvia to play other teams across J & J.
As I commuted from home for my placement, I wouldn't like to comment on this.
Leeds City Centre & Headingly have a good nightlife.
Yes, There are many opportunities to get involved in CSR activities. I also play 5 a side with people from work on a Thursday night which is really enjoyable.
