The Role
Overall I did enjoy the placement at VWFS. I would recommend FS for the placement over other companies however I would push for more training, mentor and guidance from HR/Line managers.
A mixed bag - sometimes I was an essential member of the team and others not so much.
I would have liked more guidance especially as I was open with my management team about not feeling confident with certain aspects of my role therefore not meeting objectives to a level I would have been happy with
Generally very busy with peaks and troughs but this is the nature of my role
A high level responsibility was given - tasks such as direct reports for the BoM and projects to be completed on my own.
Learning on the job has helped my studies a lot, its great to see the theory in practice
The Company
The office atmosphere is great; collaborative, creative and welcoming
The placement was well organised on the whole. The 2 day familiarisation day was a big help... more companies should do this type of induction.
I feel there could have been more training and development opportunities but the sessions which were provided were good.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Company Car
Above 25 days holiday
I would definitely come back to VWFS
The Culture
The social scene was OK, nights out in MK are not that great but the undergrad cohort arranged trips elsewhere and made the best of the surrounding areas.
Renting was fairly expensive however socialising is around average
Nightlife in Milton Keynes is not the best with only one club (pinks), but there are many bars in the Hub/Theatre district which turn into clubs at night
There were a few activities to get involved in outside of work - tough mudder, VWG netball teams, running clubs etc.
