    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I have really enjoyed my work placement; I feel I have developed many skills including communication, leadership and time management.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt very valued by my colleagues. They have treated me with respect and made me feel very comfortable from day 1. I feel I have developed great relationships within my close knit team; they have always been on hand to help me with any queries that I may have had.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • If I ever had any issues, I felt very comfortable coming to management with any queries that I had. I had frequent catch ups with my manager about my progress and they were always available for a chat if I needed one.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Due to the nature of the work, the busy periods varied. I seldom felt really under pressure to meet deadlines, however I was also never bored as there was always something to do. It was great.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given some responsibility and trust which I appreciated, however at points throughout the year I could have been given more impactful work. When I did ask for more, I did receive more!

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I feel I have grown a lot more confident in a business environment. The training I received from Learning and Development was really great, especially the Excel training and a Powerful Presentations course. I will have these skills for life and I feel it will make securing a graduate job a lot more attainable.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I was in quite a small office, which I found great. The atmosphere was relaxed but I never struggled to complete work. The team have been really lovely.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Everything was organised well, from the Lifeskills sessions to the familiarisation day. HR and my team were always on hand to answer any queries that I may have had.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I feel they invested a lot. Learning at work week was great, as well as the Lifeskills sessions. There were so many and I feel I really benefitted from all of them.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Company Car

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • You must apply for a Golden Ticket for the Graduate scheme, which will get you to the Assessment Centre, however there have been 27 Undergraduates and only 6 Graduate positions. We have not received any information yet regarding the Graduate scheme.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I have met some really great people on my placement and made friends for life. It was really great to be able to socialise with 26 other placement students within the company. We held social events frequently.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Accommodation was really decently priced. The Hub in Milton Keynes has average prices for food/drink, similar to London.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Compared to University (North of England), it is expensive for drinks. I didn't go to any nightclubs, but rather bars. There are a few good nightclubs. Taxis can add up however!

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I think VWFS have a football team. Activities for me usually consisted of eating/drinking, which was fine by me.

    3/5
