The Role
Quite thoroughly, I met some amazing people here and I am going home with a suitcase full of knowledge
Extremely, from day one I was treated as a full-time engineer. After three months of training, I started contributing work which directly benefited the company
There was a happy medium at all times. When given a task, I was not spoon fed but rather allowed to explore and find the solution myself. That being said, I got all the support and guidance every time I had a question or needed help
The company assigns new work every two weeks. This way I was able to keep myself organised and deliver my work without feeling overwhelmed
I felt that my daily tasks were very meaningful and considering that I was only on my placement, I was given many responsibilities. That made me feel appreciated
I developed some amazing soft and technical skills which not only will help me tremendously in my final year at uni but also catapult me to a thriving IT career
The Company
Friendly and professional
Very well. I had a one to one meeting with my manager every two weeks where we discussed my progress and personal development
My company paid for 3 Cloud certification exams and a lot of online training materials which helped me immensely
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Healthcare/Dental
The company have employed in the past quite a few placement students and I would love to come back again
The Culture
This year was six of us, and we all socialised in and outside the office
The area is pricy, but it hosts many pubs, restaurants, parks, and gyms so you will never be bored
Not much of a nightlife, but this allowed me to concentrate and do well on my placement. However, you can get the train into central London which takes about an hour and take the first train back for a proper night out. Or go to Reading which only takes 30min
During the summer my work organised tennis sessions and also I was going to the gym
