The Role
I really enjoyed the work ethic and atmosphere. All my colleagues were very helpful and the work was rewarding. Flexible working are one of those perks that make your life so much easier. Work from home is a boon considering if you feel uncomfortable travelling to work on some days for some reasons, you can work from home and give your best in your work.
Everyone in the workplace valued my work and me. Staff, be it the most senior level, always showed respect. It felt like a good place to work at.
My team had been extremely supportive. Even during a family emergency I felt very well supported by my manager and my team. I was allowed to take a weeks off without any notice considering the situation. Even for work there is extreme support from the colleagues. There is always someone for help.
The work graph goes up and down periodically. At times the workload is a bit too much and sometimes its very less. A lot depends on our own time management. I had certain days of every month were my workload was more than normal because of the nature of my job
I was given quite some responsibility which I enjoyed. I would have preferred a bit more responsibility.
I have developed a great sense of what the Business Intelligence tools are and a lot more. Having an IT module on BI, Big data etc will see me do much better having an industry experience of it. I have also learned a lot about the Workplace and performance, which I am inclined to choose as my dissertation topic.
The Company
The general atmosphere in the office suited me well. There is generally a buzz being an open plan office although not too noisy. This makes sure the office is not too dull to work in. On Fridays as most of the people work from home, the office gets a bit dull.
The placement was well organised I guess. The planning worked well for us.
I think the company invested in me well enough. I got the opportunity to be at the WorkTech London 2018 conference. This gave me deep insights of the latest Workplace Innovations in the industry. At the Wellbeing London 2019 conference I learned about the concerns of Employers regarding the wellbeing of the employees in a workplace. I also got the opportunity to get a training in Excel and PowerPoint.

The future employment opportunities are pretty good. The Placement students generally have a better chance of getting the Grad programmes at GSK, considering they perform well in their placement year. SRG provides other opportunities as well for students with science backgrounds once they have been a placement students with them.
The Culture
The social scene is good as the Placements Students elect their IP Unite representatives who then organised socials and events throughout the year. The IPs have Socials amongst themselves as well. There are events and parties which are organised by our teams and departments as well. The social scene is quite good.
The cost of living and socialising is very high. Being London the cost of living is very high. Also for socialising is extremely expensive as well, even worse if you go out in central London. The travel is very expensive as well. Only the buses seem to be reasonably priced.
The nightlife in our area is not good for nightouts. We generally go to central London. There are good areas in central with loads of options. There are good places to go for drinks as well. Being a GSK employee we get discounts in certain places as well for food and drinks.
Outside workplace there are other opportunities like Sports clubs etc.
