About You
I really enjoyed it. It was a very well structured and organised experience that allowed me to get the most of it and gain an interesting insight to the company and to the job itself.
I felt really appreciated. Everyone was congratulating us on getting into the programme and made sure that we felt welcomed and appreciated. Everyone was also interested in my university career and extracurricular activity and valued my efforts.
The guidance I received was absolutely fantastic. Even though I was shadowing just for 2 days, I received an insane amount of training, tips and information that helped me realise how HR on general as well as on a specialised level and BP as an organisation work.
I didn't develop new skills, but definitely gained a lot of important information towards understanding the discipline of HR and its various branches.
The Company
The insight was very well planned, I knew exactly what I was supposed to do at every moment. However, the plan provided before the insight was little too generic.
The atmosphere was fantastic! All the organisers as well as attendees were very friendly and ensured professional yet "family" atmosphere during the event. I never felt awkward talking to any of them and met a lot of interesting people. Will definitely keep in touch with many of them!
They covered all of our expenses and therefore made this experience possible.
It was helpful to see how people working there live and how heir work-life balance looks like. It also allowed me to see what different duties I could have over the year period. Moreover, it was a good overlook of how my career in he company could develop.
I felt like the main focus of the insight week was on explaining us the company's culture and it was done very well. I understood it from both, the top down approach of values and bottom up of what does it mean to employees and how does it work in practice. Being able to understand the company's culture encouraged me to continue my experience with BP in the future.
This experience was definitely crucial in my early career path decision making steps. It helped me to gain an insight into HR and become more certain about my will to continue my journey in this department.
Everything Else
I did not receive the payment yet but I am awaiting it. The reimbursement was really useful, because transportation costs were really big, they added up to 230 pounds. Being reimbursed for them positively influenced my experience and made it possible for me to come.
There were a lot of opportunities to meet people from various departments during my shadowing days as well as during the group activities organised for all the branches of the insight days.
They were really well organised and ensured a wide variety of people to network with, who varied by experience position and department, so that everyone could find someone interesting to talk to.
I found out about training programmes and volunteering opportunities as well as gaining some extra qualifications. However, the amount of details about these was not satisfactory.
Definitely!
