About You
Attended the UBS Women's Breakfast in October 2018. This was a great event to network with individuals from the different UBS teams and other attendees. I really enjoyed listening about the culture that exists at UBS and how to apply for certain graduate opportunities which exist within the firm. I would definitely recommend
As this event was only for the day it is hard to judge. However, the event was brilliant in terms of making us feel valued by spending their time giving us valuable and honest opinions about the work they do at UBS. Also about the culture and career and application advice.
Guidance and support during the women's breakfast was mainly about the application process. This includes advice for the different stages including the application form, video interview, assessment centre and interviews. The majority of the guidance was good (mainly generic) but some advice specific to UBS. So overall great guidance and support offered.
To be honest, as this was a day insight experience my skills haven't developed. However, MY knowledge for example on what skills are important in job application which I should try and develop for the future to help assist me in my degree studies and job prospects was valuable to gain.
The Company
Well structured insight day with a small introduction to begin with and then the majority networking. Would have been useful to have a more structured insight in terms of more talks but as it was an informal event that took part during the morning only (1-2 hours) it couldnt happen. However, overall great structure as i wouldnt have wanted less networking.
The Women's Breakfast was a informal (however smartly dressed) insight experience with a small amount of females attending which enabled great networking opportunities. The atmopshere was nice with food and drink provided and a nice atmosphere to talk with other attendees and UBS employees. I really enjoyed the Women's Breakfast and UBS worked really hard to make it friendly.
Cant really comment on this because this was a day insight experience. However, they gave useful insights into what training and development opportunities are available in the different employment programs (e.g. Spring Week, Summer Internship and Graduate Scheme). This includes support to do further education, training sessions and speakers coming in regularly for talks.
Significant knowledge was provided regarding what it would be like to have a full-time role with the company. This includes with areas such as the culture that exists (friendly and open and hardworking), training and development opportunities which are available and the type of work which is conducted in different departments by full-time employees.
Good insight was provided into the company's culture that includes being open, trustworthy, handworking. When you talk to people they are really approachable and are lovely to talk to which makes it resonate as a nice company to work for. The insight was limited to understand the culture as it was only a day
Everything Else
Didn't require expenses.
The purpose of the event was to network and meet other employees of the company. About 90% of the Women's breakfast was networking with enough employees in different teams to network effectively and to really gain insight into the company and the work that is conducted from investments to hr. Overall great.
I would definitely recommend attending this insight to a friend. My advice to anyone attending would be to ask as many questions as you can. Use the networking time wisely speak to as many different people as you can (but don't be rude by only spending a minute with some). Leave knowing if this is worth sending off an application.
