    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Brilliant team, interesting products and exceptional opportunities. I study Geography and although there was (seemingly) very little overlap with what J&J did, I could bring a whole new set of skills to the role and felt like I became a real asset to the team.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The culture of diversity and inclusion is tangible. Everyone has a voice and job positions are left at the door.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Great guidance by my manager and team who really looked out for my best interests. I would, however, say this was slightly uncommon and most students really had to be a self-starter to develop without much guidance being given.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Can I score this question 11 out of 10? Probably too much work! The workload was challenging in terms of time management, but not challenging in terms of the thought you had to apply.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Depends on how you look at this question. We play a fundamental role in the teams by doing many menial tasks which at first may seem quite irrelevant, but the whole business relies on these jobs being done to a high quality and you, therefore, play a critical role to both your team but the wider company.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I did more learning here that in both my previous two years of university...combined! A very enriching experience.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Heads down, keyboards clicking away. There are periods of laughter but it is expected that you focus and that sometimes feels more uncomfortable rather than empowering.

    2/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I wouldn't really call this a scheme as there was such little organisation. I would, however, say the sporadic nature worked to my advantage as there was no strict structure ensuring my placement could be flexible and align with projects that I actually enjoyed.

    1/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They see everyone as 'talent' rather than a 'human resource' and with that there are many development opportunities. My team invested a lot in me!

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Financial Bonus

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Above 25 days holiday

    Working from home

    Healthcare from home

    2/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • 5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • 1/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • 4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • You move here for a job, not for the nightlife.

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • 5/5
