The Role
My placement was a great way to gain some work experience in an environment which was friendly. My colleagues and wider team were supportive and approachable throughout my placement, meaning that my skills and knowledge developed throughout the year. Overall, my placement has been really enjoyable, and I would definitely apply for a permanent role in the organisation in the future.
My colleagues made me feel like a valued member of the team from the beginning to the end of my placement experience. They have been supportive and approachable throughout my placement, allowing my skills and knowledge to develop throughout the year. This has been a huge factor in making my placement really enjoyable.
My manager and immediate team were always on hand and happy to answer any questions I had and explain to me some of the reasons behind this. Due to them, I was able to adapt well to both the professional environment and my role at the beginning of my placement.
The majority of the time, my work load was the perfect balance. However, at times my work load become a little quiet. This did not pose a problem as, when I spoke to my manager, they were more than happy to hand me other work to complete or task me with housekeeping tasks e.g. making such our documents were up-to-date.
As my role is very much customer-facing I was given great responsibility to email customers directly and build up a professional relationship with them. While my manager and team were there for any queries I had, they trusted me a great deal to respond to customers directly, which was very reassuring.
I have developed my skills greatly while in my current role. I have developed skills that will be needed in any future role and day-to-day life. From presentation skills, to organisation, to time management, to communication, my placement year has given me great experience and set the foundations for my career my developing such skills.

Overall, my manager and colleagues ensured that everything was well organised for the duration of my placement. They ensured that I had access to all the systems I may need to use and supplied me with the necessary documents I needed in order to complete my work to a good standard.
Throughout my placement experience, there have been a range of extra training events which you could attend. The types of training and development courses and exercised varied greatly throughout my placement which made the experience exciting and useful throughout. This is one of the aspects which made my placement really enjoyable.

Throughout my placement experience, there have been various events in which I was told of the future graduate schemes and jobs available at this organisation. I was able to learn details about the different graduate schemes available. Due to this, I would seriously consider applying for a permanent role in the organisation.
The Culture
As there are a number of placement students based in the office, we were able to organise may social events throughout the year. Being reasonably close to Reading we were able to organise many nights out and evening meals to socialise outside of the office. This was a really enjoyable aspect of the job!
Being based not far from Reading a close to London, the cost of living is reasonably high. However, this is reflected in the pay.
On numerous occasions, the placement students based in the office were able to meet up and organise may social events throughout the year. Being close to Reading we were able to organise many nights out to socialise outside of the office. This was a really enjoyable aspect of the job!
There is a great Sports and Social club at this organisation. From discounted tickets to charity events, there has been a huge amount of opportunity to get involved in activities outside of the general remit of my role. This has been a great way to feel part of the organisation.
