About You
Great insight into an area I hadn't even considered. Really lovely team and meaningful tasks to complete.
With so many social events and a lovely team I was really lucky to feel so valued - despite being completely clueless!
Could ask any questions when needed to either my buddy, supervisor or the team's PA.
I think it's always useful to see the difference between the theoretical law and the real world applications.
The Company
Pretty well structured - a supervisor and buddy for every placement student so there was plenty of support. Other members of the team also fantastic to ask questions.
Absolutely fantastic; social events were well planned to ensure we felt comfortable with the other vacation students and trainees and the team I was in were fantastic.
We started with a day of information about the firm and how careers can progress within Pinsent Masons. Plenty of opportunities to ask questions. Fee-earners took a lot of time to explain tasks and the background to everything you were working on so that the tasks felt worthwhile.
Starting with information sessions about each sector and the way that traineeships and future careers can progress gave an insight into what a full time role would be like. As did the various social events with trainees, during which we were free to ask any questions within a relaxed environment.
With explanations regarding various initiatives based on equality and being included as part of the teams we were placed in really helped with an understanding of firm culture.
Starting with information sessions about each sector and the way that traineeships and future careers can progress gave an insight into which areas we could potentially look into within the firm and within the legal sector more widely.
Everything Else
Pay was decent and any travel required (e.g. to interviews or the introductory training sessions) were quickly reimbursed.
Within three weeks there were several opportunities. Between the welcome and leaving drinks, a social evening with the trainees and being welcome to book club there was plenty to get involved with.
Well structured and fairly relaxed - plenty of opportunities to ask any questions in a non-pressured environment.
Yes - we were invited to any social events taking place within the firm. Several people invited us to book club and I know that the mens football was opened up to any guys wanting to take part.
Yes - it's well structured and everyone is really friendly. Gives a great insight into areas you might not have even considered.
