The Role
Although the job is tough and the hours are long I have loved my placement year and I’m looking to return after uni, I’ve learnt a lot and made the best friends. Couldn’t recommend it more!
My colleagues have become some of my closest friends.
Various managers give different levels of support but they are always there for you if you need anything.
Very occasionally we had a quiet day but most days I was busy from the minute I got in until the minute I left but this makes the hours fly by and I enjoyed it.
Towards the end I asked for more responsibility as my knowledge grew and I wanted to take this on but you’re constantly given new roles and areas to be responsible for and this gives you a good knowledge of all areas of the business.
I have gained so much confidence in myself which will help in the future. I have learnt a lot which I will take with me and I think the work ethic will help so much with finishing my degree and whatever career I may have.
The Company
Nearly all of the time we had a great atmosphere. We got on very well and were like a small family. There were stressful times which could affect the atmosphere but generally it was good.
We had regular training sessions and a structured training programme to follow with a clear end goal.
The talent acquisition and talent development departments invest heavily in all of us. They train us with a view to us returning from university ready to go straight into a management position. They invest in interns as much as they do in graduates.
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
I am hoping to return to the role once I have graduated and I will be staying part time during my final year.
The Culture
Yes we regularly socialise together.
It is fairly reasonable. It is a big uni town so caters well to students.
The nightlife is fairly good where we worked and we are close to several large cities.
There were quite a few activities outside of work such as area nights out and charity events.
