The Role
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Siemens in Lincoln. I found the work engaging and everyday provided me with new challenges which I could sink my teeth into, as a result of this no 2 days were ever the same and the hours flew by as I was constantly busy with work to do.
I feel very valued by my colleagues as I constantly receive positive feedback on the work I have done and whenever I ask for help they are always on hand to provide advice and guidance. Further to this my department manager extended my placement contract by 3 months which showed me how important they feel I am to the company.
I am given support on a daily basis from my department manager in particular, for both work and personal issues. whether its trying to figure out how to make a pivot table for the first time, or taking a week off to go on a barbering training course, my manager has always been very supportive and provided me with good advice.
when I first started at siemens I didn't have much to do for the first couple of weeks as I was still settling in. However, once that period was over I never lacked for work to do and I even had the opportunity to do overtime on weekends and make some extra money.
I have been given quite a lot of responsibility on my department and i'd describe my role as more like a job than an internship. particularly highlighted by when I was given a lead role on a project which was the biggest earner for my site in the 18-19 financial year.
I believe the skills i have learnt whilst being on placement will stand me in good stead in all my future endeavors. important skills i have gained during my time here include: time management, prioritization, communation and many more. I've also become very proficient with using Microsoft excel, as the majority of my work involve using that application.
The Company
Good atmosphere with good people.
At first there was a mix up with my start date (partially due to my own fault), which made my first 2 weeks more stressful than they needed to be. Also, it took a couple of weeks for me to get the necessary equipment for me to get to work. However, once this 2 week period was over my placement was seamless and well organized.
I feel like the company invested sufficient resources in my development as they paid me a good wage and even gave me the opportunity to do overtime. in addition, i was able to attend a few different training programs which i thoroughly enjoyed and have provided me with valuable life skills.

The Culture
yes
i didn't live in lincoln for my placement year so i am not sure.
I lived in Nottingham whilst working on placement at the Lincoln site so i didn't really get the opportunity to see what the nightlife was like. However, i have heard good things from my fellow interns and the one night i did spend in Lincoln i had a pleasant experience and i had a good time.
Although i didn't participate much in extra curricular activities due to the logistics of my living situation. There were plenty of things offered by Siemens. from weekly five a side football, to walks/runs for charity, there was even an opportunity to spend a day out of work to help out a local charity.
