The Role
Siemens gave me an opportunity to go out of my comfort zone and try new things in a business environment. Giving me an invaluable experience of working with customers and managing projects which will improve the business.
I was valued as a member of my department for sure, they were very welcoming and made sure I could ask questions without hesitation. However, I've had experiences where my contribution has been ignored or unappreciated, but I think that's how it is in a multinational company.
I was given a supervisor from the very beginning who would take the time out of his own job to assist me on work and any other enquiries. I also had a line manager who showed genuine interest and easily approachable.
I was given a day to day job as well as projects to complete. I would be responsible for processing orders and contacting regional entities, while arranging meeting with stakeholders and showing progress I've made on my designated projects.
Due to particular circumstances I was able to work with customers in a variety of different regions, with responsibility of speaking to them directly and working with them to achieve the best outcome.
The skills I've gained are invaluable, especially in terms of using software, which I would of never got experience in at University. Also, having experience in an intense working environment will mean I'm prepared for when I look for a job after University.
The Company
Bit of a mixture, really depended on what was occurring in their job. It was mostly positive but you could have days when the office was more negative than usual.
Some elements were well organised like training and events but starting dates and getting equipment to start work took quite a while. Also, there isn't a great emphasis on being educated on elements of the business so there's a lot of trail and error.
The business arranged three training courses through out the year but actually getting the full experience of an employee at Siemens, they could of done more to improve our development.

Siemens are so international and are involved in so many different industries, this makes looking for employment very interesting.
The Culture
the majority of interns were up for going out after work and spending time with each other.
I worked in Lincoln so the area was really cheap and the for a small city, had quite a good nightlife and many festival/social events through out the year.
Surprisingly good, there's a small selection but the places that do exist are very good. would recommended super bull every Friday.
With the interns, there was plenty but with actual colleagues, there was only a select few. the ones that did happen though were very enjoyable.
