About You
I found it to be informative but interactive and engaging.
All the staff were welcoming and friendly, and were open and honest about their experiences with the company. They all sounded very genuine in what they were saying and the environment would be one I would love to work in.
We were taken through in detail the application process for intern and graduate roles, and were given hints and tips on how to improve our application. Including practice interviews and answering competency based questions.
The information I received will help me in all future job applications.
The Company
There was a good structure to the day, giving time for breaks and lunch in between activities.
Everyone was very friendly and I never struggled to talk to anyone.
They reimbursed travel expenses meaning I was able to visit.
After speaking to many graduates who were studying the same course as myself, I had great insight into what it would be like if I were to be in that role.
It was very clear to me that BP is a supportive and happy environment to work within. After speaking to female engineers they said that within BP they just felt like a person and not a sex, whereas at other points in their STEM career they had beef treated differently due to their sex. This was very positive to hear.
I now have insight into what it would be like to work in a petrochemical engineering role, however would still like to explore other specialties such as manufacture.
Everything Else
I was reimbursed for my travel expenses to and from Aberdeen.
If anything there was maybe too much time for networking, I spoke to a lot of different engineers and found all what they told me to be useful. In particular there was one engineer who was inspiring to me due to his enthusiasm and passion within his role.
By the end of the day, it felt like we had done a lot of networking and due to speaking to people in the same roles things began to get a bit repetitive.
Didn’t hear a lot about it but someone mentioned they participated in a Dragons Den style competition within work.
I found it to be a really valuable experience and would highly recommend anyone who gets opportunity to.
