    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I enjoyed the scheme to a very large extent. There was an excellent balance of activities, learning and socialising. It was a wonderful two weeks and it provided me with experience I will take forward for the rest of my legal career.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • The entire firm was welcoming and made me feel very valued throughout my time. Everyone I spoke to was aware of us being around the firm and they made every effort to settle us into the scheme. Partners, associates and trainees all took time out of their busy days to speak to us and give us 'focus on' sessions on their practice areas.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • In both my weeks my assigned supervisors and buddies were at hand to help with any questions or problems I had. Even those who weren't assigned to help us were easily approachable if we needed anything. At no point did I feel lost or left alone to struggle.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • As an aspiring commercial lawyer, the experience has been invaluable. The direct insight into the world of a lawyer is something I will use to inform all my decisions in my career as a lawyer.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • There was a very strong structured approach throughout. It was clear the timetable was well thought-out to contain a good mix of fun networking events as well as educational seminars.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Taylor Wessing has an excellent reputation of having a much more relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere compared to other law firms. These 2 weeks showed me how true this is. The atmosphere encouraged us to be sociable and speak to as many people as possible whilst also pushing us to produce the best work possible

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm's focus on sessions were an excellent way to learn about every practice area of the firm. It was clear those who delivered the sessions took the time to prepare their seminars to ensure we got as good a picture of their area as possible. The firm was clearly invested in helping us understand what the firm does and how we can fit into that.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Very well. Being sat in an office with someone working at the firm full time was an excellent way to understand how everyday life is at the firm. Other places choose to group vacation scheme students together which may limit this.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The assessment method for getting a training contract offer was very well structured to encourage us to speak to as many people from around the firm as possible. This meant we got a broad and accurate idea of the culture at the company.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • My time in each practice area helped me understand my abilities in doing the work specific to that area. I felt I fit in well in the Commercial Technology & Data group and that has influenced me to look more into that area as a career path. If I achieve a full time role at Taylor Wessing, this will be a definite choice for me.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • The firm organised more than 5 dedicated social and networking events to ensure we got to speak to as many people as possible. These were attended by different people each time ensuring we received a substantial opportunity to meet people around the firm.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Very relaxed and enjoyable. The environment was balanced in a way that you could engage in a meaningful conversation with someone as well as enjoying yourself and having some drinks and snacks with your colleagues.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • 5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • For anyone who is looking into commercial law as a career path, this is the perfect vacation scheme to apply for. The holistic view of the career you can gain will help you make the right choice regardless where it may lead you
