The Role
I enjoyed my placement year with CGI thoroughly, I learnt a great deal during the year and I had a great team who were fun to work with
When I completed work I was praised by my colleagues but there were times when other IP students were not credited for their work
Mostly allowed to do my own research and development, useful for building technical skills but missed out of client relations
moderately busy, I never had nothing to do with my time
I was responsible for research and development and applying my knowledge to an up and coming project, in terms of business critical items I was less involved
I am going to use the skills I learnt to help me out in my final year project so that is very good in my opinion
The Company
Fun people and a happy atmosphere, had some interesting conversations with my colleagues and there was even a few fun nights out
I joined via a colleague that I knew beforehand so it was more of a referral than a proper induction process so I am not sure on the proper onboarding service
I was offered a spot for when I rejoin the company which is always good, I was given training time in a complicated machine learning application which was very useful and probably never would have gotten my head around by myself
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
Healthcare/Dental
Very appealing due to many different areas within the business and my manager was very accompanying to my personal circumstances
The Culture
I was in a smaller cgi office but there was still other IP students that I have become friends with and I know there is a very large IP and graduate population over the whole company
Bristol so the prices are more expensive than most areas but I previously lived in Bristol so luckily there wasn't any moving costs
Brilliant - Bristol has amazing nightlife
There is a very good sports and social club and my office organised many events
