    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • My role was very creative; I learnt how to create and edit videos for the intranet, and gained a complete new skill set.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I regularly received praise from colleagues about the work that I did.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was trained by a professional videographer on how to edit videos. However, my role was quite technical so my manager could not always provide technical guidance, however, they did provide me with ideas on how to make my videos more exciting.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was the only in-house video editor, so I was quite busy.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • As the only in-house video editor I was responsible for working with a team of dedicated colleagues to create videos using the footage they captured from their business area.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I was also a part of Newcastle Building Society's Early Talent programme, where I worked on a project that my group and I presented to the Executive team. As part of the project I significantly developed my confidence and presentation skills, which will be extremely useful for when I do my final year modules.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I love the constant buzz in the office, there was always someone for me to talk to.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • My role was clear and I knew what was expected of me and what I should expect from the Society.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They paid an external company to teach me how to edit videos, and my manager asked what other roles would I like to experience.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
