The Role
I am enjoying it a lot. Interesting job, nice people and great environment.
All the people I have met are really respectful and helpful
The summer internship program (in my case summer associate) is well structured. I have a constant communication with my staffer/supervisor and business unit manager
Extremely busy, since I am working in the investment banking department, and usually work until long hours
Normally, the first weeks you spend some time doing boring stuff but the reason is to improve your excel and ppt skills, increase your knowledge on the sector and get to know the culture / environment. It is completely necessary. When you deliver good results you start to receive great responsibilities
The first week of training is great, not just to capture the skills needed in the usual work tasks, but also to know about the culture and values of the organization
The Company
My team is composed of 10 members. That's good, because thus you have the opportunity to know in depth the people. Managers are always busy, but at the same time they are willing to help.
The first day I was surprised that everything was already set up, which is super useful to start quickly.
As I have perceived during these first weeks, the training plays a relevant role in the development of an associate in my case. However, investment banking is a type of work where you learn from practice.
Financial Bonus
Citi promotions are driven by meritocracy. It is as simple as that. There is a very well structured and designed path for every professional within the organization, so if you deliver results and add value for your clients, you will grow personally and professionally.
The Culture
Among my colleagues from my summer associate class (18 members), there has been always a very good and relaxed atmosphere, which is good to chill and disconnect when you are very busy and focused. The negative aspect of this job is that all the people are very busy and it's difficult to spend some time with your classmates during workdays (if you are in different teams).
I am living in London, which is an amazing city. It is a city very well defined by diversity, so it is super cool to meet different people from diverse cultures and nationalities. Moreover, there are many cultural events every day in the city, so it is easy to find something interesting somewhere.
The negative aspect of Canary Whart, the area where my office is located, is that is full of offices and far away from downtown. I prefer to spend my free time in some other parts of the city to disconnect from work.
Yes. For example, there is a very interesting programme called Community Day, in which you spend some time working on social activities to contribute to the society.
