The Role
I came to this internship with relatively high expectations, as any MBA candidate I presume, and so far my expectations have been surpassed. I have previously worked in the industry, however, the quality of talent and skills at Citi is at an exceptional level.
My team has been very welcoming and I met almost everyone in my industry group by the end of the first week. However, I did have to reach out and make an effort on few occasions with more senior team members.
Everyone has been extremely helpful and generous with their time, including senior managing directors that found time to come and greet me into the team.
S0 far I have been extremely busy with meaningful work. The work I have been working has been purely focused on deal execution with substantial opportunities for me to learn.
I was given a substantial level of responsibility from day 1. I was trusted with preparing documents which were directly presented to very senior members of the team.
I am currently perusing an MBA, so thus far the skills that I have acquired on the job are highly applicable to my degree programme and future career. I appreciate the level of practicality in the things we do. Moreover, I am learning about a sector / industry that I am fascinated by.
The Company
The general atmosphere is very collegiate and yet direct, which reflects the US heritage of the firm. I find it conducive to my learning experience thus far.
Well organised with a focus on meeting senior management on different occasions. Would have appreciated smaller groups events. Specifically events for the Summer Associates.
The programme began with a week of high quality comprehensive training. However, I would argue the main investment came in the form of people's time.
Company Parties/Events
I hope I get a job with Citi - I am definitely excited about the opportunity for working with the team here.
The Culture
The social scene felt very limited.
It was pricy as everywhere in London. Nevertheless, the quality of shops and restaurants justified the prices.
The nightlife in London is exceptional, but one must go to west London to experience it.
We had a corporate social responsibility day organised as part of our programme. On a team level there were multiple social events throughout the programme.
