The Role
Had a very warm welcome into a friendly and helpful team. On-boarding was extremely well-organized by HR and IT services. People at Citi tend to answer any question you have with a smile and try to help you to the best of their abilities - even though they are very busy.
I feel extremely valued by the team and my peers. I try to be of as much hekp as I can to fellow interns and they are always very grateful - and are often able to teach me something new as well. The team is very grateful when you do your best to assist them and does not put unrealistic pressure on you.
Our staffer set out multiple meetings for us at the beginning of our placements to discuss what is expected of us and to discuss our personal goals. The manager / staffer is a supportive ear and gently guides you towards reaching your best peroformance and your goals during your placement.
In the beginning of the placement, we nqturqlly were less busy but we certainly did get ample study materials and access to information. This way we could start learning right away. As you are added on projects over time, you are definitely busy - but this makes the hours fly by.
I was very surprised by the level of responsibility the team trusted us with, straight from the start. The team absolutely believes in your capabilities. Taking responsibility definitely helps to pay more attention to detail and gives a portion of healthy stress to boost your tempo and quality of work.
I was finally able to put what I had learned at Uni into practice. This way we learn to link theory to the reality. This helped me to get a global viez on the finance sector, the bank and the investment banking industry. This definitely motivates me to build a career in finance.
The Company
One would not believe how extremely nice the people at Citi are. You get a warm welcome at every occasion, with impressive people who are genuinely interested in your background story and ambitions. This made the atmosphere very collaborative - rather than stressful. You can always rely on your team and it is very easy to socialize with the other teams - as the HR team exerts great efforts to organize social events.
Everything was amazingly well organized, from the interviews, to the welcoming day, to the training week and joining the desks. IT was all set up for us, so we could jump straight into assisting the teams. We were treated to a full week of external training, which was very useful to many of us. During our time at the desks, every single person on the team explained in great detail how a task could be executed. Even if you had non-related questions, it was easy to contact other teams and ask your question.

I would love to start my career at Citi as I am so satisfied with the culture of diversity and inclusion within the company. You feel worthy and appreciated when you start working here and the opportunities to grow within the global network are enormous. Great to meet so many talented people.
The Culture
We were told on several occasions that there are no quota and that there was enough hiring capacity within the bank. This is amazing to hear because everyone can be objectively evaluated on meritocracy. It creates an atmosphere of collaboration instead of hostility, which ensures that everyone has each other's back.
Quite - very expensive.
Very vibrant and always busy. Quite touristic. Many opportunities to socialize and meet new friends. Great thing is that you can also hang out and meet people in the proximity of the office as there are many bars and restaurants in the area. Colleagues also often go for drinks or food together.
