    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • A great experience, giving a rewarding and valued insight into citi. Helped develop myself as a person and explore future career options across the business. However, difficult to transfer into different departments. Impossible during internship but difficult at end on potential grad scheme offer. Have to decline offer in existing department.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Felt valued by most people met. Especially immediate team, manager extremely friendly and approachable. However, work given didn't seem to give value to company. Felt like remedial work and was bored and work did not feel valued. Did not feel valued by people in some areas of the business such as investment bankers and corporate bankers.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Can easily access good support both through online training systems and by colleagues Udemy provides many training courses across many areas of business, including those not in immediate business area, so can learn about different operations throughout the business, can also be accessed at home to explore other interests and develop new skills

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was not overly busy from day to day, I regularly found myself bored and spinning on the chair, as only given one main project and didn't have the skills for more rewarding and time consuming projects. Could see other members of the team also not particularly busy, those of which having 10 years of experience. Have seen some watching movies at the desk

    1/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was not given much responsibility as I was not trusted to touch actual existing systems and do meaningful work in the business. Due to skill lack and lack of trust due to not having previous work to show to build a relationship. Was given tasks which didn't matter if it was messed up

    1/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • My skills in coding were highly developed learning html5 and javescript. However, as I do accounting and finance it would not help in my degree just helped me understand how applications are created and how things work on systems, which would only be useful if taking a permanent career in technology

    2/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • A bit dull

    1/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship was excellent in the organisation, HR provided a contact for each division and was extremely helpful and the team provide numerous talks, training sessions and networking events. And I felt like i was known personally rather that a number or name on a page. I was helped through many problems i incured

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Given more investment in grad scheme

    2/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    2/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Could potentially be offered a grad scheme job on completion on my degree if performed well throughout the internship. However, if want to move business area you have to turn down the job offer and are not guaranteed to go on to the other schemes. Also a 2:1 is required in the degree.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Met many new people and got along well, regularly met outside work and had group chats where we could help each other and provide advice both inside and outside work. I was only though in contact with other interns in technology and found it difficult to connect with other business lines

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Lived in London which is very expensive so had to curb spending and go to cheaper places. Did not receive first pay check until 6 weeks in so had to rely on student loan summer installment until this day which was hard and as was away from home could not rely on parents

    1/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There is nightlife available in London but comes at a high cost as most places have high entry fees and drinks are pricey, often £15 for a cocktail and often £8 for a mixer drink. However, transport around places is alot cheaper than in other places as can get the tube which would cost £3 return but at home a taxi would cost around £30 return

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There was volunteering events for charity as part of work which took place outside of the work place. But London has a broad range of activities available to suit many different interests and person types. However, these usually come at a high cost but there are some good free options such as museums
