The Role
I learnt a lot of new skills and they gave me the opportunity to use machinery that I hadn’t used before.
They’re all friendly and welcoming
Everyone was very helpful
We were constantly busy. Then in quiet periods, we thought of other jobs that needed to be done.
The placement trusted me to do tasks on my own with the other placement students. This included helping with visitors and school groups. As well as, working with the animals (sheep and cows).
I was able to learn GIS, how to effectively use quadrats and input the data onto information systems. I believe these skills could hell me in the future when it comes to choosing my dissertation.
The Company
Very friendly and positive
We were always told what we would be doing when we came in on the mornings. We were also given options as to what we would like to do.
I found it very useful spending my placement as hengistbury. I was also trained how to use the brush cutters and BCS. I had a great experience and learnt a large amount from spending my time there.
I found this as a great insight and would enjoy this type of work in the future.
The Culture
Yes, everyone was really friendly and got along together.
I stayed in student accommodation throughout my placement.
Great atmosphere
Yes, we were invited to events which were happening.
